MGA Engine Serial Number Data.

Note that the early 1500 engines had the
serial numbers prefixed by BP.

Example: 15-G-B*-U-H**-12345

15 = 1500 / 16 = 1600
G = MG
*B = 1500 Series
*A = 1600 Series
*C = 1622 Series
*B = TwinCam
U = Centre Gearchange
**H = High Compression
**L = Low Compression
12345 = Serial Number

Chassis numbers for the MGA-1500

They are loaded with information about the car.

Example: HDA 13 10101

This is a MGA, two seater, painted black cellulose for the RHD home market.
